Help me choose a haircut

I’m booked in with my stylist at 5pm today and have told her I feel like a change but don’t really know what. Hair is currently sitting just below my shoulders, pretty straight and thick. It’s just a bit blah, i struggle to do anything with it beyond straightening it and because I can’t blow dry it properly is pretty frizzy at the top.

I’ve been scrolling the internet for inspiration at have came down to 2 but can’t decide which. I’ve had versions of both cuts before (every few years I cut my hair short, grow it out because I like the idea of having long hair then realise I can’t actually deal with it very well before cutting it all off again).

Mornings are mayhem so I need something with minimum faffing/styling. I can’t curl my hair myself (I’m fairly certain those of you who can curl your hair with a straightener are magic) and other than some heat protector spray and a can of hair spray own zero products.

Help me. Please 🙏

you posted an inverted bob that you like OP. Perhaps go for that style but not as steeply inverted?

An inverted bob may not be fashionable at the moment, but it’s what is about what suits you and suits your hair.

I would take images of a range of hairstyles you like and show them to the hairdresser. Any good hairdresser should be able to advise on what cut would suit your hair, and your face, the most.

Thanks for your advice @Morestrangerthings1, I’m not in the least worried about what’s fashionable or on trend at the moment, this is all about me finding something that looks good and that I can make look good and to hell with the rest. Part of me thinks the longer style of the two I posted will be easier to maintain as at least I will have the option of throwing it into a ponytail if it’s not cooperating one morning before work.

Hi @icebearforpresident
I think both styles look really nice!
I would go for the haircut in the second pic that's my fav out of the two xx

I’ve had a bob before and it took much more maintenance and time in the morning than my long hair.

But if your hair is really thick and straight it might be different for you, and if you’ve had one before then you’ll know.

I always think a well maintained bob looks amazing though. Maybe not as steep as those ones though.

Thank you all for your input. Went to the salon at 5pm as planned and showed the 2 pictures I posted here to my stylist and she suggested combining the two, so shaved at one side with the length of the brunette style at the other. I went for it and I LOVE it.

Fab!

Sounds really nice. Would love to see!

Although the chances of any of you following my stylist on instagram are slim, I won’t use her photos to show the back of it, but it’s got a really lovely shape to it.

Decided not to colour it as I’m going grey (despite not even being 40) and was asking her my options for going with it rather than trying to hide it. We agreed to leave it for now, most of the dye that was in my hair has been cut out now, so see how it grows in and either blend it in or go back to hiding it. Now I’m seeing just how grey I am where my head is shaved I’m doubting myself!
