Will I be getting sick with all of this

Yesterday evening my mother told me she has a sore throat. This morning she told me it's still with her.

I know it's a sore throat and it could be cold or anything but I know COVID is on the increase in the community and she would have placed herself into an exposure risk last weekend travelling on buses and going shopping. In my mind I think this is the onset of COVID and only time will tell. I live at home with her. There's no escaping this. She's very stubborn and there's no way she will isolate in her room or carry out manners or hygiene. I'm definitely going to be exposed to this.

On the other side of me, I was likely exposed to a norovirus today as well or a virus that looks a lot like it with sick and poo all day long.

I am run down due to stress too and I have an underlying condition and also an auto immune condition too.

I feel sick at the very idea of so much sickness around me at home and at work and in my day to day life and noone really cared to isolated themselves when I'll and just pass whatever they have on.

My mother's sore throat has increased and she has a ahead with it now.

All day long I was exposed to likely norovirus and now it's likely COVID exposure now as well.

From what I can gather we have to treat Covid like a normal cold???

Maybe you could stay in your room and wear a mask in the kitchen and bathroom. I’ve avoided catching Covid by wearing a mask and being around people with it for 6 hours

You sound very anxious. Do you have help for that?

Agree... She has another thread about Norovirus running in tandem with this!! 😏

I know exactly how you feel. My extended family are so selfish with any illness. They could have norovirus and then come and visit an hour later with absolutely no care about infecting anyone else. It's total selfishness.

Take heart that its possible you won't get ill at all. You might not get the sickness bug, especially if you've been able to practice good hygiene yourself. It could also be just a sore throat. I'm currently recovering from covid and DH has come down with a sore throat. But he's consistently testing negative so it's just a sore throat.

I find what helps me in times like this is to control what I can control. Keep your distance. Windows open. Don't share towels. Keep washing hands. Keep your distance. I also use First Defence nasal spray from Boots. It helps to prevent any viruses lodging themselves in your nose. Even if you do get ill, I find it helps to know that I did everything I could to avoid it.

Also, I know it's hard. Stay positive. So many studies suggest that positive attitude and things like placebo effect are actually very powerful in protecting our health.

Maybe do some yoga or meditation to destress?

Theres one person with a sore throat and headache (I think there's a high possibilty it will develop more into COVID but time will tell) and then on the other side of me there is another sickness/virus - of vomiting and dirrohoea and it looks a lot like norovirus. My mother is happily coughing and splutterly all around the home. And that was after a day of me cleaning up piss, shit and sick.

Nobody cares to isolate when they are ill.

And I am supposed to be happy with exposures to these and possibily developing these myself and co-infections too - imagine that - COVID and norovirus together - at the same time. And I am supposed to be happy and pleased with this?

I have an underlying condition too.

It's a huge smack in the face because when I had COVID last year and also a different virus not long afterwards, I did so much to protect others and prevent passing it on. This is what I get. People being sick and just passing it on.

I think you’re being rightly cautious. I remember when I kept getting Covid and other infections thinking my body can’t cope with anymore. I ended up getting asthma from it all then last time I was unwell I had a massive asthma attack and had to go to hospital
