Is it impossible to get premiership football tickets? I'm thinking of ideas for my husbands birthday.
Newcastle would be our closest.

Does anyone have any experience or tips.

Thanks

I am assuming that to apply for Newcastle tickets at St. James Park you will need to be a member (I know that's the case for my club).

Long gone are the days anyone can buy a ticket. Members will have to apply via a ballot and then find out if they're successful.

It might be different for less glamorous games, perhaps a league cup game or something, but they're not coming around for a while.

You might be able to find some off a tout (perhaps via a NUFC Facebook page), but you will pay a fair bit and the clubs are trying to come down hard on touts.

If you don't know anyone with a season ticket, willing to let you go a match, I don't think it'll be easy to get one.

You might be able to get a ticket for a League cup match if Newcastle are drawn at home.

I am assuming if you suggested Sunderland there might be some language I will not repeat!!

It’s near impossible to buy a ticket as a tourist nowadays. Especially with a team like Newcastle who are on the rise with a waiting list for season tickets.

Your best bet is hospitality if you can afford it, it usually starts at £150 per person but if you want to try general sale there will be a selected date they go on sale after season ticket holders/members have claimed their tickets. If season ticket holders aren’t attending they have the option to hand seats back and they go on sale to those with a purchasing history, it’s usually tiered so - attended 15 + games then you get an option to buy, 10+ games, 5+ games etc.

Tickets are released only 2/3 weeks in advance so it’s quite hard to plan a trip.

Also be careful which fixture and where the ticket is from, teams are now conducting spot checks to make sure tickets match ID.
