Chances of withdrawal?

If I stop taking fluoxetine after 3 pills, what are the changes of a bad withdrawal? I'm on 20mg. Please don't come and have a go at me. I'm really not in a good place and need support rather then a lecture. Thank you so much

3 doses? You shouldn’t get a withdrawal. You should check with GP though. Hope you are ok.

Thank you so much for your input and non judgmental reply. I have a gp telephone appointment this afternoon to double check, it's just I take my dose in the morning so wanted to get some input to make sure it's not going to destroy me before my gp calls 🙈😂

You shouldn't get a bad withdrawal from three days worth of pills but expect your Dr to tell you to "give them a chance" so if they arnt suiting you practise your "no"

No it won’t destroy you at all! Hardly even in your system. Plus, Fluoxetine has a long half-life which means it’s the least of the SSRI antidepressants to cause withdrawal symptoms.
Good luck later - I hope you find something that works for you.

You can get Fluoxetine in smaller doses.
So you could ask your GP if you can start lower and build up gradually to lessen the side effects.
DD started on 5mg (liquid) and built up in 5s to 20mg.
(You can get 10mg capsules too.)

As someone who has stopped numerous ADs cold turkey, you should be absolutely fine.

I read this! My gp said I couldn't get 10mg 😭 so losing faith in my doctors surgery if I'm honest. Thank you so much

Thank you so much for your input! Is there an ssri that worked for you? I'm starting to genuinely give up! 🙈

Thank you so much! It's just so stressful because the whole reason I have anxiety is because of the ten months I spent in the hospital last year and the poor care so now I have to go on ssris but they just exacerbate my original illness so I feel so lost and fed up 😭

Most of the SSRIs that I've had have been okay but not great - definitely not good enough. I'm now on trazodone which is a different type of medication but has been really good so far with minimal side effects.

TeenDivided · 17/08/2023 09:26

Don't let them fob you off.
The liquid may be more expensive I guess, or perhaps your GP is just ill informed.
DD is currently on 30mg and takes 1x20mg and 1x10mg capsules per day so they 100% exist.
