joulesdiscount.com - is it legit?

Earlier this morning I saw an ad on Instagram for some Joules boots I'd been looking at ages ago. The advert looked like an official Joules one and when I clicked I was taken to joulesdiscount.com. On the face of it, the site looks genuine but when you dig in a bit there are some oddities - e.g. under the Ts and Cs it says the site is operated by "blank". Also, when I went to pay the approval request from my bank came up with a completely different URL which relates to another clothing shop (not a well known one).

What do we reckon - scam? I'll be gutted if so - just spent ages filling up my basket! Haven't found an answer from a quick Google.

It will be a scam.

PriamFarrl · 17/08/2023 09:01

That’ll be a scam.

Not Joules but I went to the Uniqlo website yesterday and they had a big thing saying that this was their only website and they knew of other ones that were fake etc.

Look it up on Trustpilot, it's definitely a scam.

It's definitely a scam. I got caught on a Cath Kidston one last week but luckily my bank blocked the payment. I did, though, have to spend two hours on the phone to my bank cancelling my card and blocking future recurring payments that the company set up.

Have a look at their eBay page if you want a bargain - there's always LOADS on there and it's always been fine. I get the kids' wellies and waterproofs from there.

lalue · 17/08/2023 09:25

Just waiting to hear back from my bank now - what a fool. Thanks for the eBay tip @LBOCS2! It actually was kids waterproofs I was looking at!

There are loads of these scam sites going around at the moment. Always ask around/look for reviews/double check it's legit first.

Hi I contacted Joules on Facebook about this website and they said:

Good Afternoon

Thank you for contacting Joules.

Unfortunately we’ve been made aware of a few Joules scam sites and Facebook accounts popping up online and our teams are investigating this and looking into this further.

Please take care when shopping online, and double check the URL to ensure you are shopping on one of our official pages. I’ve linked these below for your convenience.

Official Joules website: www.joules.com/

Official Joules Ebay store: www.ebay.co.uk/str/joulesofficial

Official DE Joules website: www.next.de/de/tomjoule

Official USA Joules website: www.joulesusa.com/

If you have placed an order on a page claiming to be Joules, that is not listed above, please contact your bank or card provider and they will be able to assist you further.

Please do not hesitate to get back in touch should you require any further assistance.

Kind regards,
Lynn@Joules

I’m getting quite a few of these popping up at the moment. Prices are too good to be true, there are quite a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes on the site and they have everything in stock in every size! Definitely a scam.
