Civil Service interviews

I recently graduated. I previously worked as an EO in the civil service for 10 years.

I threw caution to the wind and applied for an HEO post and passed the sift. It was a complete shock as I didn't think I would pass and had been restricting my applications to EO level.

I was really pleased but now uncertainty is creeping in and I'm thinking that I was only offered an interview because someone else dropped out and they need to meet their minimum numbers for interview.

Does the civil servuce have such a thing? Like do they need to interview at least 10 or 15 people or do they only progress the suitable applicants even if they only have 2 or 3?

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t think you got it on merit after 10 years CS experience and a recent degree? Why wouldn’t they just think you sound fab??

They only interview people who meet the criteria... so they think you're at HEO level! Own it - 10 yrs experience plus the additional qualification you now have, you are easily capable so go for it

I guess my doubt comes from being unsuccessful at sift for about 5 different roles which were all EO level.

It's battered my confidence a bit.
