When do I need to get to the airport?

Our flight from Gatwick to Bergen (Norwegian Air) is 11.10 am. I'm going to check in on line. Will be getting the train to the airport.

What time do you suggest we arrive at the airport?

I'm so nervous about bolloxing it up🙄🥴

2 hours before. That’s what we usually aim for with a short haul flight.

Thank you. Might add 1/2 hour just so my anxiety doesn't get out of control.

I still aim for 2.5hrs because I panic about traffic issues or train delays etc. I feel much better when I’m through security and sat with a coffee and a book.

Aim for 8.30-9, especially if you are stressed/nervous.

far better to be there, mooching round duty free or enjoying a nice breakfast than stuck in a train stressed to bits. Calories consumed and £’s spent don’t count in an airport 😂

Another silly question but how long does it take from Gatwick train station to actually getting into the airport?

It depends which terminal you’re flying out of. The train station is attached to one and there’s a monorail which takes a couple of minutes and literally runs back n forth to the other. Check the website as I can’t remember which is which!
do you have hold bags to drop or just hand luggage? I’m allow a bit of extra time if I was using the train in case of cancellation or delay. 2.5hours before departure is plenty, maybe 2hours with only hand luggage.

I’d do 8:30 latest. You never know how long security will take you

Where you travelling from to the terminal?

I'll be on the Gatwick Express from east sussex

the train station is in the South Terminal - 5 min walk

lots of people don’t travel regularly or get stressed about it, it’s fine! Also make sure you’ve checked the liquids rules and have anything that needs to go thru the security scanner separately (laptop, iPad etc) easily to hand in your luggage.

Don’t feel silly, it’s a perfectly legitimate concern. Enjoy your trip.
