Supposed to be travelling to France on Friday

realised DD’as passport expires on 31st October. It is SO bloody confusing as to wether she can travel. Some sources say it needs six months left, some say 3 some say only for adults? Anyone have any RL insight??

No it won’t be valid for travel to France. Is there any way you can postpone travel until next week? You’ll be pushing the far track options for travel on Friday as there’s less options available for a child’s passport. You need an in-person appointment.

Whether it was 6 months or 3 months validity you needed it doesn't matter as you don't have either. If you Google "passport validity France" then the first hit is the gov.uk page which is very clear.

Children's passports are a minimum of 7 days due to safeguarding. You won't get one in time.

Check with French authorities. My ex hubby had 9 months on his and was refused a return flight to Italy last month. His return date was 3 days after his outgoing flight from UK.

The fastest child renewal is the 7 day service and you need an in person appointment. It may not take the full 7 days but will not be a same day service

I don't understand the confusion about rules - need to have been issued in the past 10 years and have 3 months validity from the time you leave the country

So @WeetabixTowels - your DD cannot travel as per the rules

I don't understand either, the rules have been in place for 3 years now and surely prior to booking a holiday you check Passport validity? Although judging by the amount of threads on here people don't and then scrabble around at the last minute.

There has been more than enough press attention regarding the post Brexit travel rules, I could understand confusion/mistakes in the first year but not now. When I have booked flights there has been a huge reminder on the first page re the rules.
