Heart bpm dropped below 40

I take medication to help with high blood pressure. I lost some weight during the pandemic but have put some back on since, and I’m obese on the BMI scale.

For the last two weeks, I’ve gone back to eating better and have done at least an hour of exercise every day. My resting heart rate has gone from 64 to 52bpm.

This morning, I had a note on my watch to say my heart rate had gone below 40bpm for about ten minutes while I was asleep.

Should I be worried? Worth telling my doctor or not?

I would definitely mention it, maybe you medication may need adjusting if your weight has changed?

It’s normal for our heart rate to be lower when we sleep. Any lower than 40bpm, then I would mention it. Are you on a beta blocker? If so this may need lowering but the other hypertension medications are unlikely to affect your HR. If you have any black outs or feel dizzy when your HR is low, then definitely get help.
