Amazon, scam?

I bought an item off amazon and the seller has messaged me to say I'm one of 3 who has been selected for another one for free 🤔 is this a scam? Has anyone had this?

What was the item?

Firefighter22 · 14/08/2023 23:35

It sounds totally scam . My friend has just had an Amazon scam involving a ‘free’ phone being handed over to her by a ‘courier’. She hadn’t ordered a phone. She then discovered two Virgin Media direct debits had been set up in her bank account. She cancelled her cards and account and set up a new one and is now receiving debt collector notices on behalf of Virgin saying she owes £176 so far. Don’t respond and check your bank account just in case.

Just some hair extensions. Its definitely from the seller the message can be viewed on my amazon account, they were around £100 so wouldn't say no to some free ones but don't want to be scammed obviously

Banana because it’s out of the ordinary, I’d steer well clear, even though it’s a tempting offer. I guess with scams, they are supposed to be tempting or no one would ever end up on the receiving end of them.

It's a scam, however I have bought a product from Amazon and the seller (company) sent me a coupon in the mail, asking for good feedback in exchange for a £10.00 Amazon gift card or something like that.

In instances like the above I don't think it would be a scam, but for what you have described sounds a bit dodgy.

I recently bought something from Amazon and had an e mail and a letter offering me a free one if I give a review and screenshot it to them.

BananaSlug · 15/08/2023 14:22

They’ve not asked for anything in return oddly enough

If something sounds too good to be true then it usually is
