A long shot. A paperback book, Christian. One of the stories in it is about God going into churches, until he comes to one 'that has balloons' anyone know the books name?

Chat GPT is very good for identifying books. This is what it says
The book you're referring to is likely "The Shack" by William P. Young. It's a Christian novel that includes a scene where the protagonist meets God in a shack, and there is a mention of a church with balloons. Is this the book you were thinking of?

Chat GPT couldn't help - I don't know either. It's for a family member. I'll pass on your suggestion. Thank you.

Could be something by Peter Dehaan or Brian McLaren?

Oh, good grief. The Shack is just about the worst pile of excrement I've ever read in my life.

It’s not the Shack.

@PrimitivePerson I should have hated it, but I found it really stuck with me. Enjoy isn’t the right word but more than a decade later I think of it and am very glad I read it. (I’m an atheist.)

I thought it was full of schmaltz, sentimental nonsense and was very unsubtly trying to convert people by being manipulative and dishonest.

I'm a religious abuse survivor so my tolerance of that is zero.
