Scammed on eBay. Is there anything I can do?

Long story short I sold an item on eBay worth over £500. Buyer wanted a refund and sent me back an empty box! When I say box, it was less than a quarter size of the item so no way the item could have been in there. eBay dragged it on making me think there was a chance I could win the case. Now eBay have closed the case in buyers favor. They have taken the money from my account.

I did everything they asked. They were not interested in seeing my proof. The buyer provided nothing to back themself up. They must be laughing.

I'm going to appeal but not holding out much hope.

Is there anything else I can do?

This happened to my daughter. EBay always side with the buyer (PayPal too) my daughter just had to let it go. Hope your more successful. Good luck.

EBay sides with the buyer. Vinted sides with the seller.

I'm sorry this happened to your daughter @bingojuice. It's so frustrating isn't it!

@Wowowowo it's awful. I refuse to use eBay now I won't even buy anything from there.

I have no idea if this would work but you could try Action Fraud (since you have the address etc) and you could also try threatening a small courts claim.

so sorry this has happened to you. I stopped using eBay to sell years ago because of stuff like this (I also got scammed but ultimately PayPal sided with me) and eventually stopped using it to buy too.

Unfortunately, I don't have their address as they wanted it delivered to an Argos store. If only I could go back in time and not have sent it!

I’m so sorry! I don’t know what can be done but I’d at least ask the police for their view. They might be able to force ebay to give up the buyer’s address.
