Viral eye infection: will ANYTHING speed up healing?

It’s not bacterial because it’s not crusty etc, just watery/weepy, pink-tinged and gritty feeling. In both eyes. I’ve had it 3 weeks now but stupidly only twigged it was an infection (not just dry eyes) a week ago so I was wearing my contacts for 2 weeks which will have obviously prolonged it.

will anything make it get better faster? Been wearing glasses now for 5 full days but it’s not really improving. Fed up!

I think you should speak to an optician.

Thx TiredArse. I plan to see my optician when I get home but I’m on holiday until the weekend so just trying to work out if anything might help in the meantime.

I had exactly the same symptoms and the pharmacist was happy to prescribe antibiotic eyedrops because she wasn't convinced it wasn't bacterial. It got better within 24 hours.

Thanks Calypso. I did try the OTC antibiotic drops but they didn’t improve it which is why I thought it must be viral not bacterial.
