I fantasise about days organising kitchen cupboards, doing a deep clean, getting the house glorious and even changing rooms around.

In reality I spent most my day today sorting car insurance and laying on the sofa binge watching 911.

Total indulgence:

Not leaving house: have a long bath with reading material, easy lunch, more reading on couch

Our of house: either go to the shops the rest of the family have no interest in, fancy tea and soaps for me, go art gallery, have coffee an small treat watching the world go by.

@Olivia199 the good old kitchen cupboards is a bugger of a job.

@frozendaisy ahh sounds lovely. Art gallery is a good shout and can’t go wrong with a good coffee!

I'd take a tent and a book to the beach.

I always think I’ll do amazing things with it but I’ve had a child free day today and I have

  • been swimming
  • walked into town to get a couple of bits
  • Waited for a man to come round to give us a quote for a new garage door
  • been for a walk
  • discovered The Queens Gambit and watched 3 episodes

it’s been lovely and relaxing but I just never seem to get all the things done that I think I should or could!

BaileySurfer · 14/08/2023 18:08

No housework! Take yourself out for coffee & cake and/or lunch with a book. Browse the shops. Go to the garden centre? I can spend hours there but appreciate some might find it dull!

DupontsYellowDressingGown · 14/08/2023 18:30

Long lie, swim & sauna, lunch by myself, cinema

TheChosenTwo · 14/08/2023 18:51

For an impromptu day I’d head to the gym first thing and take a book for the spa afterwards, would have lunch there. Then home for lying on the sofa and then maybe borrow a dog to walk.
With a small bit of notice I’d commandeer a friend into a long walk and boozy pub lunch!
Either way, for a bonus day of indulgence I would be doing absolutely no household admin crap whatsoever.

Mrkipplingslice · 14/08/2023 19:08

Lovely ideas. Wish I was closer to a beach. Oh yes, absolutely no housework for the day!

Lido, massage, walk. Or York Hall spa in London, Brick Lane bagel and a museum (the latter being my plan for when DH next takes DS skiing without me).
