Would you eat egg fried rice from the Chinese takeaway that was left on the kitchen side all night and out in the fridge at 7am this morning?

Probably wouldn't risk it to be honest.

AndyMcFlurry · 14/08/2023 14:08

Nope .

Peony654 · 14/08/2023 14:09

if I’d cooked it yes, but not takeaway as likely it’s been reheated at least once already

belle1993 · 14/08/2023 14:15

Yes I thought that myself, best not to.
Thanks all

I have done this.

No, rice is a bad thing to leave out. It's known to contain bacteria (and toxins) which multiply quickly.

Timeless01 · 14/08/2023 14:31

No way

OhYouSweetSweetFool · 14/08/2023 14:31

It is alarmingly easy to get food poisoning from rice.

Squidger45 · 14/08/2023 14:31

I would, and I do. I'm not dead (yet).

Why not just put it in a fridge?

It’s a no from me OP.

I know someone who worked in a boarding school where a cauldron of rice was cooked once a week then used for the next 7 days. This horrified her but she needed the work so gave up complaining about it. Nobody got ill as far as I know so yours may be ok OP. Wouldn't do it myself though.

Swirlingpearl · 14/08/2023 14:39

I would eat it cold. (And have). Not reheated though.

GeraldTheGoodMouse · 14/08/2023 14:43

Nope.

This isn't a good enough reason to eat it.

Freshly cooked rice should be cooled reasonably quickly and then refrigerated. Reheated rice should not be reheated again.

Just because you've been lucky doesn't mean it's not dangerous.

It's a bit like seatbelts. I've never needed mine because I've never been in an accident. That doesn't mean I don't put it on because "I'm not dead yet".

Take it from me. Please don't take the risk. I got food poisoning from rice and I have never felt so unwell. I was nearly admitted to hospital due to serious dehydration but managed to keep enough water down after two weeks. Horrendous.
