On holiday in Northern Spain, loud bangs…

We’re currently in Northern Spain on holiday & it’s a festival period the Assumption of Mary. If it’s linked there’s been a series of really loud bangs across the area, like canons. But not fitting to a time pattern, or anything we can try & work out. Any ideas?

it will be fireworks etc.

We’re in an Airbnb, so not able to ask anyone. Daughter speaks Spanish but not confident to ask anyone.

it’s louder than fireworks

Erm no, Spanish fireworks can be pretty loud - less worry about health & safety! I was in Valencia for the Fallas festival in March and the ground was shaking...

It is hunting season, could be shooters bagging birds for dinner. Careful where you go waling

Spaniards love setting of cohetes at any hint of a festival. They're like rockets or large fire crackers. They shoot into the sky and explode with a load bang.

Walking

Cool ok, thanks fireworks seems
to make sense as they’re so sporadic.

Ok we’ve now seen fireworks, we’re next to mountains too so it kind of makes the sound amplified.

I think people in Spain like to make noise.

DP and I joke that every Spanish man is given an angle grinder on his 18th birthday and the most desirable job in Seville is to empty the glass bins outside restaurants by dragging the bins across the cobbles to the lorry at 4 am.

Are you anywhere near San Sebastian? It's there festival week and the fireworks during this week are insane.
