Vans here for both DS and DD

GooeyPieForPud · 14/08/2023 12:15

@frogswimming If this is for secondary school I would start them with a generic black backpack for the first week or so, then get your child to tell you what they want if they are influenced by what everyone else is wearing. Easier that way. My children went to a secondary where only the minority had branded backpacks. Most had generic black laptop rucksacks maybe with some coloured piping. Affluent area so nothing to do with affordability.

I agree that, if this is for secondary school, it's good to wait a couple of weeks if you can. At DD's school, the girls have Vans & Adidas, the boys Nike. No, DD could NOT use a Nike backpack for the last few days of term when the zip on her's broke!

BananaSlug · 14/08/2023 12:21

Nike here

caringcarer · 14/08/2023 14:42

New Balance, No Fear, Vans, North Face. My DS teen refuses to wear or use anything Nike in support of his female sporty friends who are boycotting Nike because of transwomen on advert.

frogswimming · 14/08/2023 15:55

Yes secondary. Might be better to use the old one at first then and see what they want after they've settled in a bit.
