Vinted Scam??

I've listed some clothing on Vinted. Someone purchased a listing for 2 tops which I sent via a parcel locker service. Today I've got a message from her saying she's received a pair of jeans for a 5 year old. There is zero possibility that's a mix up on my end as I don't have a 5 year old.

I've asked her what the packaging looked like - I had written my return address on the package so considered asking her to tell me what it is. No response yet.

Is this a scam? She has the correct parcel but is going to claim she got sent the wrong items and get a refund - we're talking literally 5 quid. Or is this something that actually happens - no label is added by me to the outside of the package, just scan the QR code and shove in locker.

Anyone else had this?

Hello 👋 I don't think its a scam. Definitely get her to send photos of the packaging and contents but I have heard of inpost mixing up parcels before. Hope you get it sorted x

Quite common with in post. Ive disabled posting that way and won't buy if that's the shipping method

I'd think it's more likely a mix up by the locker people. It's certainly not unheard of. There's a whole Facebook group with people trying to reunite In-post customers with their right parcels.

If I use In-post for sending, I always print the label myself. And add return address on the parcel. At least then I hope it's got half a chance if either getting to the right person or coming back to me

This has happened to me on vinted- been sent completely the wrong parcel! So I don't think she's scamming

I got a pair of school shoes on my recent purchase (our equivalent of Vinted) instead of jeans. As the buyer, I was the one that took it up with the courier service. I didn't even notify the seller tbh as it was an obvious courier mistake and not hers. The tracking number for my actual parcel and the one I received had one digit difference. You as the seller have done what you need to do imo. Ask her to check the waybill number and contact the courier method she chose.

Has happened to me before. 2 parcel labels got swapped over by accident by the courier when sticking them on.

Although If she's genuine she'll have no problem taking a quick photo of the package for you.

Thanks for the replies. After a bit of conversation with her I can tell she's genuine. The parcel she received was nothing like the one I sent so it's obviously just had the wrong label attached by InPost. I did actually disable that as an option as soon as I finally found an empty locker to post her parcel in as I didn't realise what an utter faff it is.
Her and I have both raised it with Vinted - InPost couldn't give two shits.
I did write my return address on the outside of the parcel so you never know, it might just re-appear.
