Phoning someone

Hi, just a quick question.

If I phone someone and it rings exactly twice and then says ‘the number you are trying to ring is unavailable’ is it likely they have blocked my number?
If it was simply off wouldn’t it go directly to VM?
I have a feeling it’s not a signal issue. I don’t know what network they are on.

Sounds like they declined your call - pressed the red button instead of the green answer button

I agree, it sounds as though they've declined it.

Blocked, or on 'do not disturb'

Thanks I’ve rang quite a few times so if they have declined then it’s exactly after two rings

I have my phone set to do not disturb (iPhone) for certain hours of the day whilst WFH and had been asked by a few people why when they call me (during those times) it rings and then cuts off. So that's why I suggested that whoever your calling could have it on that setting. But also some blocked callers experience that too (according to Google)

Mightn't they have just set their phone to go to voicemail after 2 rings?

A lot people (me) dislike answering calls, and a short ring period lets you see who's calling and pick up if it looks important.
