Has anyone signed up to this? DC desperate for a dog but financially not a sensible option for us right now. I was thinking of signing up to this so DC can walk and play with a dog. Is it good?

I’ve used this it before and it’s great, you get to meet new people and getting some doggie cuddles.

however I’d never sign up for it for my child. Put yourself in the owners shoes, they want someone to look after their dog and treat them as they would their own, not to use them as Guinea pigs for your children. I personally would not let anyone to look after my dog for their kids sake 😬 they are not a toys

Also remember not all dogs are great with kids - mine isn't keen on any under about 10!

Borrow My doggy is great! We just started using it a few weeks ago and so far it’s been brill.

Theres a button on there to tick if the dogs are happy with children. You can be upfront in your bio and mention your DC being keen to meet a dog.

Someone having a child might appeal to dog owners for lots of reasons, if they have a playful/high energy dog the idea of a kid running round with them is a massive win. Or to get the doggo used to meeting/being with kids!

BMD is all about it being mutual so it’s nice for the owner to understand that you are doing it for your enjoyment and interest.

Another option (as you mentioned finances) is Rover where you get paid to look after the dogs. I think that’s popular too but there’s a bit more of an emphasis on responsibility E.g checklists to say you’ve fed them/walked them etc.

absolutely go for it!

Thanks this is helpful. My Dad has fields and 7 dogs so my DC are used to dogs but they really want to be able to walk one. Will be good for me too. Get some more exercise!
we will give it a go. Thank you!

Why can't the walk one of the seven dogs?

Kids don't want to walk dogs. They will do it once, maybe twice and lose all interest!
