What sort of questions do they ask for your interview? What can I do to make sure I pass probation if I get the job? Do you like your job?

At the risk of outing myself I was…. but I’m not any more! I found it incredibly stressful for minimal pay, lack of appointments meant that as first point of contact, we were often subjected to angry patients taking out their frustration on the receptionists. Not all patients but in the short time I was there I travelled home in tears a number of times.

There was also a huge amount of admin involved as well which had to be done at “quiet” times during the day (of which there were very few!)

My interview had scenario based questions but unfortunately I can’t remember specifics. You need a thick skin - be sympathetic, empathetic, be able to work well under pressure and show you’re adaptable. You also need good IT skills as the booking system is quite in-depth and complex (I’ve worked in office based jobs for years and consider myself to have good computer skills but as everything is on one system there’s a lot to learn).

I worked with a fantastic team and couldn’t fault my colleagues but sadly the job wasn’t for me.

Good luck in your interview.
