I've looked for up to an hour for the last three nights, including over the last 45 minutes too. I have seen about 6 to 8 shooting stars, that's all. In total!
I see more on normal nights when there is no meteor shower due! I think they are overrated/over exaggerated, and the pictures you see (on the internet/in the newspapers,) of 30 or 40 stars flying through the sky on one photo, is when someone's opened a camera lens for about an hour!
I think there's only 40 to 50 an hour, It's only one every one or two minutes - and then you have to be looking exactly in the right place in the sky!
