Please help me choose a holiday for 2024

I’ve spent all day looking for something but I don’t know exactly what! Criteria is as follows:
package holiday (jet2/tui or similar) - I don’t want on the beach or anything like that
self catering
somewhere family friendly ( I don’t really want a strip or a hotel to be full of stags and hens)
chilled and quite quiet
don’t mind if it’s a one bed apartment as long as it sleeps four
budget up to £2800 for last week in July or first week in august ( dates are non negotiable)
open to anywhere but turkey and Egypt!
please hit me with your ideas and bonus points for actual hotels! Places I have looked at today are algarve, villamoura, masspalomas, puerto pollensa, Tenerife (but I don’t know where to go in Tenerife!) and lanzarote (again have no clue where to go!)

Have you actually looked on the Jet2 and Tui websites tailoring the search as per your criteria?

FitAt50 · 12/08/2023 23:11

Have you been to Turkey before?

Iwasjustasking · 12/08/2023 23:14

@RichardsGear yes, I’ve spent hours looking but I just wondered if people had personal recommendations, went abroad for the first time this year, for the last 14 years we have been to haven with the kids so I feel like I don’t know enough about the places I am searching! I have shortlisted about 20 hotels from doing the above but I feel a bit out of my depth!

@FitAt50 yes and I do like it there but don’t want to go in august as think it will be way too hot.

I would not recommend villamoura, I went about 8 years ago. Could not find a single Portuguese restaurant for lunch. Very Brits abroad type place. Fine if you like fish and chips, sex and touristy shops, casinos and Irish bars. I was actually quite shocked, as I’d been under the impression it was quite upmarket. It’s deceiving if you look at the yachts in the harbour, but it’s actually very tacky. Luckily we were not situated in the middle and were able to spend most of our time in the village next to it, Quarteira.
Citudella in Menorca was much nicer. Also on a marina, but much more authentic. And strangely enough, cheaper.

I have been to Salou with kids very near the airport so very short transfers.

Beaches are clean.

Lots of hotels just outside the city - read the descriptions of it says ideal for nightlife move on to the next hotel.

We are staying at a 4* All inclusive right on the beach, for under 250 in October.
