I’m 3 years sober today!

I just needed somewhere to show off!

It was so hard to stop, but so worth it. Life is so much better. If anyone is sober-curious, just do it. You won’t regret it.

CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎂

Im glad you were able to stop & that you feel a lot better for doing it!

well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Andthereyougo · 12/08/2023 15:20

Congratulations, celebrate every sober day of your new life.

LunaNorth · 12/08/2023 15:21

Thank you! It feels kind of awkward to say it in real life, so that means a lot.

Congratulations - definitely worth a celebration! Flowers

invisibleoldwoman · 12/08/2023 15:24

Many congratulations that is a huge achievement. May you have many more sober
anniversaries.👏

Reality · 12/08/2023 15:25

Congratulations!

I’m 63 days in, with daily yoga being a big part of the ‘how’, and after (re) reading Allen Carr.

I felt so trapped for years and thought there was no way I could ever be sober, I relied on it so much. But something about AC (alcohol does nothing for you whatsoever) really resonated this time and I am reaping the huge benefits (money and time for a start!).

A huge huge well earned congratulations to you!

CraftsForTheDaft · 12/08/2023 15:29

That's amazing! Congratulations!

RubyMurry22 · 12/08/2023 15:30

Congratulations that’s amazing!! I’m nearly 8 months sober and think it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. I haven’t read AC but loved Alcohol Explained by William Porter. I will be celebrating one year on Boxing Day (hopefully)!

LunaNorth · 12/08/2023 15:30

Fantastic, @Reality ! You’ve done the really hard bit now. That first 50 days were the hardest for me.

Thank you everyone Smile

Congratulations, that is fantastic. Can I ask if you used any methods/support or not (only if you want to share). I'm going it alone and doing ok (very early days) but keep reading it can't be done long term without support?

isthismylifenow · 12/08/2023 16:07

Congratulations OP 💐.

In glad you have been able to share this here. Because it's a bloody fantastic achievement.

octoberfarm · 12/08/2023 16:15

Congratulations!!! That's incredible ♥️

LunaNorth · 12/08/2023 16:15

@NaughtyBoyGeorgeMichaelJacksonBrown of course I don’t mind.

I used the Annie Grace 30 Day Challenge - I signed up to the online support group, which was free. I also bought her book, This Naked Mind.

I’d read that a lot of the cravings in the early days would be sugar cravings, so I put healthy eating to one side and laid in lots of sweet treats (Haribo Sour Patch Kids were a lifesaver).

I bought nice soft drinks, such as Fever Tree flavoured tonics, so I had something nice to drink.

I signed up to the Calm app, and did Jeff Warren’s 30 Day Introduction to Meditation - which I’ve continued to this day.

I read a lot of quit lit. As well as This Naked Mind, I read We Are The Luckiest, Quit Like A Woman and The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober.

I downloaded the Sober Time app so I could look at my achievement when I was feeling wobbly.

I upped my self care massively - lots of hot baths, exercise, naps. I decided that what I was doing was not nothing, so I needed to respect it and be nice to myself.

And when it got tough - which it did - I played the tape forward, and rode the cravings. I found they only really last about ten minutes before they subside. The dogs got walked a lot!

Well done! Keep at it, one day at a time.

LunaNorth · 12/08/2023 16:17

Oh, and I joined Club Soda on Facebook, which was brilliant, and took a selfie on Day One, so I could compare myself when I was sober!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 12/08/2023 16:22

Congratulations it's an awesome achievement. I'm on day 244 after doing 7 months last year as well. I get what you mean about saying it out loud but that's something to be well proud of x

MontyCCU · 12/08/2023 16:23

LunaNorth well done on your achievement ❤️
