Liverpool mini break with DS 14

Visiting Liverpool in a couple of weeks for a two night mini break for DS birthday. Just the two of us.
Neither of us have ever been, what would you recommend we do there? Interesting affordable restaurants would also be good to know.

I'd like to take ferry across the Mersey but beyond that no concrete plans.
We're both quite relaxed, don't mind museums/galleries but not top of the list.
Staying centrally. Really looking forward to it.

We had a brilliant time on The Floating Grace. Cruise around all of the docks with lovely crew and two course dinner. They also do afternoon tea. Lots of fun and music and there were families of all ages aboard. Worth a look. Set sail from Albert Dock.

The Quarter on Faulkner Street off Hope Street does great Pizza.

Spelt Falkner wrong. It's got a website and you can book online. Also does great pasta and has amazing cakes and desserts.

Sounds great, thank you.
We might do pizza twice, so I am open to other options too.

Just here to say the same thing!

On the corner of Hope St (best street in the entire city), opposite the cathedral. No idea if the best pizza in Liverpool, but incontrovertibly the best place to eat one. And they’re delicious. The pavement tables are in a sun trap - and the conversations at neighbouring tables are always fascinating.

(I can recommend Hope St Hotel - gorgeously minimalist and lovely.)
