Anyone here in the US or who knows the US well who can answer a gift question ?

My Dad is in the states (Texas) and it’s his birthday next week.

I wanted to send a postal gift - maybe wine and chocolates (both would go down well!) something the equivalent of something like this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/red-wine-and-chocolates-gift-box/p/hpp60585894#intid=pid_pg1pip6g2r2c2

i’ve googled a lot but some of the options look a bit naff.

is there anyone that can guide me to a nice alternative?

thanks

Check whether alcohol can be sent overseas first. I seem to remember wanting to send a hamper, with wine, overseas, but it's not possible. Have you tried US websites?

RamblingEclectic · 12/08/2023 10:39

Yeah - I'd look for a shop local to them to order from that will deliver. I only ship from here when I'm specifically sending British stuff that can't be found easily over there, and then I make my own bundle. Never send alcohol so don't know how that will work or the laws around it, but I wouldn't send anything glass just in case.

Sorry that’s what I meant - does anyone in the US know a decent company there that does these sorts of gifts? The sites I have found from here look a bit cheap and cheerful.

Texas is a big state. You probably need to specify which area he's in for someone to help you.

Or you could go for a large company like Drizly.

I wouldn't do chocolate in this heat, unless it's hand-delivered and the shop is very local to where he lives.

My family send us nice alcohol as gifts using Drizzly. This is a US app that uses local stores to deliver. I have never asked how it works UK end but it obviously does.

You could try Kroger . I googled and there is one in Palestine. It’s a major grocery store and nearest I can think of UK wise would be Sainsbury’s.
