What is the best Pistachio Ice Cream?

A few months ago, as a treat to go with our take away pizza, my DH and I added on a tub of pistachio ice cream to our order

It was the best tub I have EVER tasted. Candied pistachios throughout and vanilla ice cream swirled through as well.

Bloody expensive but worth it!

Sadly it's not available in supermarkets and I've since been on the hunt for the best tub you can get via the shops

I bought a small but very expensive tub from Waitrose yesterday and was so disappointed. Tasted of nothing! And the pistachio magnums? Don't get me started!

So can anyone recommend me a good pistachio ice cream that I can actually buy in the shops?

My favourite is Grom. Hope that’s the one and not the one you didn’t like. Also Hackney Gelato Pistachio, Almond and Lemon which makes the best ice cream sandwich between two M&S Pistachio and Almond Cookies.

Lidl have a nice one that is creamy and delicious but they don't always have it in.

I bloody love pistachio ice cream and have only seen it for sale to buy in a cornet. Archers at Richmond old train station was memorable. Watching with interest

Following! The best pistachio ice cream I've had in the UK was from an ice cream shop in Cambridge called Aromi.

Do you have a gelato shop near you op? Ours does incredible pistachio gelato and sell it by the litre tub. Pricey but delicious!

Best is proper pistachio ice cream from an Italian gelato. There's a place called Gelateria Danieli in Richmond in London that does a pistachio ice cream to die for

Grom is a bit more creamy than pistachio'y so I can imagine that's what you might not have liked about it (if that's the one you're talking about). But it does have real pistachio pieces in which I quite like.

Another vote for Grom’s pistachio. If you are close to an Asian area get some pistachio kulfi always high in pistachios.

anything with pistachio oil/flavour run a mile. You want pistachio paste in the recipe. Good pistachio icecream is more brown with a hint of green than bright green. The brighter green it is the worse/cheaper/fake it will be.

Ah op was that at 400 Rabbits by any chance? Every time I go I'm suggesting they reinstate that flavour!! It was divine...

I think it wasn't that financially viable compared to the other flavours because they used fresh pistachios which are expensive but I for one would pay double for pistachio flavour. Maybe if you nag them too, they'll listen :)

I love Pistachio ice cream,but have never found a reliably good one in the UK. Our AI in Lanzarote had it included in the ice cream cabinet, I had to restrain myself quite a lot.

The best ever, I had, and I'm a pistachio ice cream affecionado, was in Turkey, land of pistachios, a chain called Mado. Honestly, it's amazing. Mouth waters when I think about it. Is it too weird to visit a country just to eat pistachio ice cream? And pistachio kebab. And pistachio chocolate. Pistachio Turkish delights.

I use the pistachio flavour as a bench mark for any ice cream shop I go to. I have candied pistachios and mini meringues in a gelateria near me, but I prefer just the simple churned, often brown not green variety.

Once McDonalds was offering pistachio sundaes- Dear God, it looked and tasted like swamp weed!!
