PS4 Hogwarts Legacy - which one?

Can someone please help - I don't know anything about games.

I was hoping to buy this for DS as a surprise. He's had a busy few months with exams and work. I've realised it isn't so easy as there are several versions on Amazon and also a deluxe edition on the PlayStation store (on offer this week and includes a PS5 upgrade/dark arts extras)

I don't know which one to buy!

I'd just buy the base game for the game platform he has tbh. So if he has a ps4, that's the version you need to het. The deluxe package or dark art package really only includes extra skins like an option on a different looking stff, like a cloak or wand for example. There won't be extra game play or functionality. It's a great game though, I'm sure he'll love it.

I'm not an expert but I do have the game.
What platform is he going to be playing it on?
Does he like physical games or downloaded ones?
Is he likely to want to be a dark arts practitioner?

I bought the ps5 deluxe addition and just bought the virtual addition as I don't need more clutter, but dc really like physical games.

Thank you. He has a PS4 but I don't think there are any immediate plans to upgrade. The disk version is £48, but both basic and deluxe (PS4/5) online versions are £60, so I guess if deluxe isn't necessary, then that decides it.
If I asked him, he'd tell me not to spend money on him and I was so confused by having to choose!
