How much can you drink without a hangover and is it always the same?

Last weekend I was away with a friend. On Friday we had a couple of pints of beer in the afternoon watching a rally and shared a bottle of wine with dinner.

The following evening we didn't drink during the day, but shared a bottle of wine with dinner and had a cocktail instead of pudding.

I had a much worse hangover on the Saturday morning. On Sunday I felt a bit jaded/tired but no headache or other symptoms.

I'm not a regular drinker so both evenings were enough for me to be quite tipsy, but if anything I'd have expected to feel worse after the cocktail evening, as the alcohol was consumed more quickly.

1 smallish glass of white 12% alcohol wine. I'm ok with that. A bit woozy and I'll fall asleep. More than that and I feel sick and have a hangover. I'm a real lightweight

My worst hangovers are with Beer or wine
I can have about 3 large Malibu's and colas for example and not get a hangover but 3 pints and I absolutely would or 3 glasses of wine

We are both big drinkers - currently on 2nd pint while watching the England vs Columbia game.

For me, a hang over has less to do with how much or what I drank but what I've eaten, what soft drinks I've drank and how much sleep I got. I do find drinking a pint of water before bed makes a huge difference but I don't often remember to do that!

I don't really get hangovers. Never really have, even when young.

Maybe it was just the cumulative effect after the 2 days?

I can drink quite a lot of gin without feeling drunk or being hungover. I will feel absolutely pissed on 3 pints of stella/san migual/moretti and definitely feel it in the morning. This evening I've had 4 pints and a pizza down the pub, I feel drunk, I'm going to sleep in a minute 😂 I could drink 4 DOUBLE gins and not feel anything like I feel right now.

I think it's the fact you have a mixer in it that helps

Def same for me. We're big drinkers too and I can sometimes drink 1.5 bottles of white wine plus a spirit or liqueur drink (shock horror) and be absolutely fine the next day! But if I've not eaten much or drank enough water i can feel rough.

Well I said about 3 glasses of wine earlier in the thread and I had 3 large and 1 small glass of rosé last night. I felt a bit rubbish when I woke up and feel incredibly tired today, bit that's quite a lot for me. If I'd had any more I would have felt awful today I think.

My body does what it wants. It seems sleep and good are the main factors. I've had one bottle of wine and close to death the next day but also casually drunk a skin full over a day with an early night/big meal and woke up rosy.

Also laughing at the thought you were a raging alcoholic after 3 days of drinking.
