Nursery and quality

We’ve had our son in the same nursery for the last 2 years. He is 2 and half. It’s been great but lately it seems to have gone down hill.

when we pick him up, if he’s been naughty we get a full on story about what he’s done etc.

When he’s been good all we get is “he’s been fine, there’s nothing to go home”. In a tone of voice meaning goodbye.

there’s been a few incidents as of late of picking him up with a snotty nose that looks like it’s not been wiped for hours.

Today we’ve picked him up and they tell me he’s climbed onto a chair, reached up and got hold of the pva glue and got it in his hair. He still had the glue in his hair and they told me he’ll need a bath.

Now what has annoyed me is why haven’t they made an attempt to get it out of his hair before it’s dried. It was also another day of seeing a lot of snot around his nose all dried up.

am I over reacting or expecting too much or am I right to make a complaint about this?

thanks

Definitely complain but what’s the continuity of staff over the summer? At ours, a lot of the very good staff work term time only so over the summer you have a lot of agency cover, and they’re really not as ‘on it’ - i guess they’re just not very invested in thé children in front of them a lot of the time. We definitely notice standards slip a bit. But no WAY should your son have been unnsupervised to the point where he’s able to get PVA glue in his hair. Thats not acceptable.
