Can I have a flu type virus with no cold symptoms?

Just woken up saturated in sweat after being out cold since 7pm.

came on very suddenly - midday yesterday fine, by 3pm I was shivering, prickly with goosebumps, eyes are aching so much, back/skin feels all prickly, low grade temp (37.8) and generally feeling like utter shit.

no cold. No cough. No sore throat. No nausea. No one in the house has it.

Full disclosure: I flew shorthaul on Sunday, and i’m on day 1 of a nasty period after stopping Norethisterone to cover the holiday. I do still have some Covid tests in date but it was negative. Had fu vaccine Nov 22.

I thought viruses like this (and flu, or whatever this is) always came with a cough or sore throat? Is this just a virus that doesn’t do that?

There's millions of viruses. So yes, definitely.

No rash?

My 23 year old son had this and it lasted two weeks.
His sweats were so bad, the mattress has had to be replaced.
One minute he was cold and shivering, and the next he was being hot and sweating.
He then developed a bad throat after a few days which weirdly came and went.
After 111 just telling him to take paracetamol, and 10 days later, he got a GP appointment, who gave him antibiotics.
Three days later he felt better.
Never seen him so ill, and three covid tests were negative.

I was thinking possibly shingles. I had it in my 30s but only had a small area of rash on my shoulder.

Yes possible. Keep testing for covid, the tests don't keep up well with new variants so it can take 3+ days to show up positive and even then not all cases are showing up on LFTs (I think I read 75% of cases are picked up by third test). Make sure to swab your throat, your inner cheek, then your nostril. Nostril alone doesn't cut it.

COVID is on the up, you've just been on a plane, it's very likely to be COVID.

Flu itself doesn’t come with cold symptoms, you just feel like you’ve been hit by a bus.

Thanks all

The sweating is off the scale - I’m drenched. I’ve got shooting pains in my muscles and me eyes feel like they are not my own. I’ve got somewhat of a headache. I always thought viruses like this (even cold and flu and Covid) come with some sort of respiratory element like a snotty nose, cough or sore throat - but I have none of these just the fever and aches.

pissed off as it’s my birthday tomorrow and we had special plans.

No rash?

No, none that I can see anywhere obvious
