Stupid ibuprofen question

nomdegrrr1 · 10/08/2023 21:14

I've started itching all over after taking ibuprofen. Is it serious?

I'm not safe to drive, and I've no-one that I can ask here. I have a sixteen year old son and a husband who doesn't react well to illness

I won't take Ibuprofen after me feel really dizzy once. Felt awful so won't touch again.

Daisy523 · 10/08/2023 22:28

You’ve mentioned vipers twice. Am I missing something or is that significant?

That really upsets my tummy and I also cannot tolerate gluten/dairy since my 40s as makes me so ill and I get such a rash on my back if have gluten which looks like I have been scratched by a panther, is a name for this but have brain fog at moment with peri meno. As others have said if you have antihistamine take that and you should be fine. Once you are sensitive or oversensitive to one thing well for me anyway I find I am sensitive to many other things and makes me itchy, or my face gets boiling in a heat rash. Lots of water will help also. Try to relax and not overthink.

Rattymare · 10/08/2023 22:31

Drink water and take an antihistamine tablet, then take a shower.
It happens to me sometimes.

Thanks, just being able to get out the worry is a help.

@BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants my gluten intolerance comes out in my skin as well and it's gruesome when it gets going. I think that was triggered by stress, and then all sorts of other stuff started like dairy was suddenly a problem. It wears me down sometimes.

You sound anxious. Do you have health anxiety? Ibuprofen very very rarely causes allergic reactions.

I'm generally an anxious person but not usually about my health. It's just that I've been taking ibuprofen for the first time in ages and I'm now very itchy.

It's settling a little so I'm probably just going to try and get some sleep.

Haven't read the full thread but I'm sure I've read Ibrup can trigger gluten symptoms if coeliac /intolerant.

youveturnedupwelldone · 10/08/2023 22:38

I get allergic reactions to ibuprofen, never used to and then since about 10 yrs ago I get all over itching, a runny nose, cough, worse asthma.

Don't take it again tho "just to see" or anything. I also can't take aspirin (same family of drugs) or naproxen.

I have gluten intolerance and it comes out in my skin. I guess I'm strictly on paracetamol now, just in case. Sigh.

I can't take codeine. I took it once about twenty years ago and I've never forgotten the weird stuff that came with it.

I'll keep clear of it now, just in case. It won't kill me to switch to paracetamol.

I also got psoriasis after I had my son many years ago but cutting out dairy/gluten has helped and think had dairy intolerance as a child but no one took me to the doctor even though I had burning red cheek and back then it was encouraged to drink loads of milk, they thought it was cutemy red cheeks but it was hurting me. I think once you stop having gluten it makes you so much more sensitive to everything else. Hope you feel better soon. All autoimmune things. Look after yourself xx

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 10/08/2023 22:58

It is called Dermatisis herpetiformis. It is so strange when I first saw the marks on my back as looked like I had been scratched all over, weird scratch marks. Thankfully I try to watch what I eat but it is a pain and also expensive but haven't had the scratch marks in ages. You are not alone.

Frankenpug23 · 10/08/2023 23:05

Call 111 possible allergic reaction to ibuprofen- you need advice asap

andloqa · 10/08/2023 23:13

Your responses seem bit off/odd OP. Itching can be a sign of serious liver issues, you need to be careful and seek proper medical advice.

continentallentil · 10/08/2023 23:18

OP you do sound quite discombobulated.

I think you should call 111 just in case.

Your son’s gig isn’t till tomorrow so you don’t need to worry about that, and never mind your husband.

Will you call? Just explain your physical symptoms, and if you aren’t feeling quite yourself, tell them that too.

AutumnalPumpkin · 11/08/2023 00:18

I agree with some of the other comments people have made - you do seem slightly off in your posts, slightly strange things you've said or repeated.
If you haven't already, I'd contact 111 just to be on the safe side x

You might have an Infection that's why your skin is itchy...

That was my first thought, after she said that she has a tooth infection. Coupled with the weird feeling of dissociation, its a common symptom of an infection.

@nomdegrrr1 - please get it checked out, infected teeth commonly cause sepsis. Before antibiotics, it was a common killer.

Please, please at least call 111 !

nomdegrrr1 · 11/08/2023 08:55

Thank you for kindness.

I was definitely discombobulated last night. I was in a lot of pain and there was a lot of itching. The itching and tooth pain have subsided for now, but I'll try and manage a check up at the dentist regardless.

Thank you again.

Yes confusion is common with infections as well as the itching.

Op are you going to try and get sorted out today ?
