I've been given two tickets to a fancy dinner as a gift. Something connected to a shared interest I have with a friend and which we usually go to together, although the tickets weren't from him.
I've invited him to come, there's no one else I'd know to whom it would be remotely attractive.
We'll need to buy our drinks. As host do I pay, does he pay as beneficiary of the spare ticket or do we split it, as we usually do?
I don't really care which and I don't expect it to cause any kind of issue, I just wondered what's "correct"?
