We have a day together next week to celebrate his birthday. He's really into gaming, and cute animals. Lego models are still in his room, but he no longer builds with it unless I buy a set. He will occasionally play card or board games with me. Loves Star wars.

I want to take him somewhere he'll enjoy going. We did a VR thing a while ago which he loved. Was thinking maybe a board game cafe, but not sure he'll find it uber exciting. He went to a puppy cafe last month.

When asked, he is happy to do something with me, but doesn't know what.

Any ideas please? Can travel in Sussex/Kent/ London.

would he enjoy an escape room? Not sure if you need more than 2 for it, maybe he could bringa friend? Im thinking of trying this sometime with my odler teens.

Would he like those Immersive Gamebox things or something similar, believe they are in London. Think I heard there was a life size monopoly at Tottenham Court Rd.

If you're in Kent/London then Paris for the day?

DC took me on what seemed to be a TikTok food tour of zone 1 recently, something like that to end up at the board game cafe.

Agree with escape room.

I was going to say escape room. Did it for my son's 18th and it was great fun. Hard though!

My 19 year old enjoyed a day at the beach fossil and fossilised shark teeth hunting. He is normally gaming, e toyed it more when he found his first tooth. That was in Kent this summer 😀

Escape room is a good idea.

Immersive gameboxes is one to investigate.

Love the day trip to Paris idea, but he's been on several day trips to Paris/towns in northern France/Belgium through the years. The old offer Eurotunnel used to do every February/October half term for £19 return was very well utilised!

Puppy cafe was in London somewhere @Comedycook His dad took him.

Thanks for all ideas so far. Appreciated.

Guided walk around London eg ghost walk or graffiti tour.

Zoo keeper for a day experience, or individual animal experience. Most zoos offer these.
Walk over the top of the O2 experience.

Climb the O2.
I did it last month and it's brilliant, cannot recommend it enough.

Axexperience, an axe throwing thing. there is one in London. We gave this to ds as a fun birthday gift and he had a fab time.

Globules · 15/08/2023 23:37

Thanks for all your ideas.

We had a great time doing an escape room. It was our first one, apparently a very hard one, and DS aced it.

We had a late lunch, then came home and played board games and the Wii. We haven't done that in ages. Lots and lots of laughs and memories made. Fabulous day all round.
