Anyone up?

I've NC for this because it is a real pity party but I am feeling quite sorry for myself.

5 weeks pregnant, I've got a sore throat that feels like swallowing razor blades, conjunctivitis and insomnia. I know its a hormonal thing that will calm down but for now, I've been up for hours and will be looking after my dd tomorrow, so not exactly time for a nap.

No point to this, just feeling shitty.

Hi @PityParty24 - that sounds horrible . . . I had colds/flus throughout my current pregnancy and it's bloody miserable, especially when you have another child to look after. Life feels very hard and physically it's just so tough, so I sympathise.

I'm awake because I'm booked in for a c-section tomorrow and it's playing on my mind. But I'd probably be awake anyway as the baby has been bouncing on my bladder for weeks, so I need a wee at least every hour!

Do you have a partner or any family support? Just wondering if you can call on someone to help, so that you can rest for a day or two.

Sorry to hear that, and congratulations on your pregnancy 🎉

I always found the first 12 weeks of pregnancy the hardest, and with additional suffering like conjunctivitis and sleep deprivation, you have my sympathy 💐

Can you do something positive with your brain, like make lists of what you need to do to get things ready for the baby, or plan a couple of fun days out during the holidays for your daughter? You need to distract yourself, in a nice way until you feel tired and can fall asleep.

I'm awake and in A and E with my 13 year old who is being observed for dry drowning. We were in Kefalonia about 8 hours ago and I've been up for 23 hours now!

I hope you feel better soon.

@PityParty24 sorry you’re feeling so rubbish! I’m 28 weeks pregnant awake in bed with a bowl of coco pops! Have to be up for work at 6:30.
I had covid early on in my pregnancy and it’s awful. Just try to sit down when and where you can and hydrate

I'm up. Definitely hormonal (a "feature" of perimenopause - which I find not too dissimilar from early pregnancy symptoms) and welding about how to help a friend. I don't know her that well (we hung out for a while before our kids started school and then life/work got in the way) but she's just moved to my village. She has terminal brain cancer. I can't stop thinking about her situation (she had two young kids) and how I can be of some help now she's just down the road. Shattered but since I can't switch off I reckon I'm up for the day 😴

lifebeginsat48 · 10/08/2023 04:40

Worrying, not welding!

Hi OP,

So sorry you're not feeling good.

When I was 17 weeks pregnant me and DP got food poisoning and I was knocked out by it. We had an 11 month old at the time and our DC grandparents where both on holiday at the time. It was truly awful and we had no help. Thankfully DP managed to keep it together to do the nursery drop off 😂 I was in bed for 4 days! X

5 months pregnant and not slept at all because I'm being bullied at work :( yesterday the bully told me a internal promotion was going to someone less experienced and qualified than me. Have spent the night writing out a formal grievance letter. Don't know what to do though, I need the job and don't need the stress. But feeling very much pregnant then screwed.

Ohmylovejune · 10/08/2023 04:51

I'm up. No good reason!

Hi, @PityParty24 I'm thinking of you and hope you feel better soon. Sending good wishes from West Coast US.

@BaffledOnceAgain oh no! Your DS experienced dry drowning...you all must have had a terribly frightening day! Here's praying he gets well taken care of in hospital...time just stands still in hospital waiting areas!Flowers

PityParty24 · 10/08/2023 07:27

Oh you are all so lovely. I made myself put my phone down but out the TV on in the living room and fell asleep on the sofa. Must have been a decent sleep as my eyes were stuck together when I woke up!

@lifebeginsat48 & @BaffledOnceAgain I'm thinking of you both, I hope your DS is OK and your friend gets the support they need.

@ohw That's awful, I've experienced workplace bullying and you are right to stand up to them. Good luck!

Thank you. We got sent home eventually and I'm just keeping a close eye.
