Called back after a smear.

I received a letter two days ago that abnormal cells were present after my smear, now recieved a letter to go in for a biopsy.

What can I expect next?

I had similar and had a colposcopy. Went back after 6 months for a check up and consultant said from what she could see, everything was looking much better and she'd expect the test results to be clear and, if so, i would be referred back to the GP to have 3 yearly smears..

I got called back some 20 odd years ago after abnormal cells were found. At my appointment I was told to bring someone with me as I wouldn’t be able to drive home myself. What happened with me was they removed the cells by using a laser, I didn’t feel anything, my legs were put in stirrups, but it was only for about 15 minutes. I felt fine afterwards and had another smear 6 months later, then had yearly smears for 5 years at our hospital rather than at my GP. I never knew if they were sent away for checking.

Same here, ages ago. They basically do another more thorough test to see if it's anything to worry about.

In my case it came back clear but I think I had to have annual smears for the following three years, but everything was okay.
