If you made a career change into tech, how did you do it?

Seeking some guidance on how other women have made a leap into analysis, programming, software development please?

At the moment I work as a social housing officer, while I like my team I am feeling stale and stuck. There is not much scope for promotion and it is unlikely that I could earn more than 30k per year, the maximum I could ever earn within this sector is around 50k.
I'm a single parent to a 11 year old and live in Wales.

I've been looking at various job roles and the most exciting opportunities for growth and salaries are within tech. I read the job descriptions and personality wise they are a fantastic fit, but skills wise I am a total beginner.

I've found technocamp wales offer free courses which is so exciting, I've emailed them today requesting to sign up for their autumn courses.

If you have made the switch please can you advise;

how you did it?

If you are pleased you did?

What your position is now / how much you earn?

Any hurdles you have faced?

I know it's a lot to ask, but any advice would be massively helpful.

Thanks so much 😊
