DH leaving me - what job can I look at to earn as much as possible?

Husband has told me he wants to separate. We have children, one of whom is a small baby.
Pre maternity leave I currently work part time, earning circa 12k/year for childcare reasons and obviously will need to change that when he leaves as he is the main earner, much higher than me but I can't see him being able to support us both living in our own homes.

What jobs could I look at that pay well? I have a first class degree from a good uni if it's relevant, and currently work in education but would probably look to move sectors.

To be honest, though, I don't think she'd suit sales. You really have to have the personality for it and you need bags of drive and confidence. Someone with as little real world experience as OP and as much reluctance to work and get the satisfaction of earning money is unlikely to do well in it, although of course people can surprise you.

I wonder if you should look into leafleting, OP.

Why are you being so rude about the OP?

OP hasn’t said anything to indicate any of those things. Bizarre.

I'm so sorry, I got confused between threads and this was meant for a different OP. I have asked for the post to be removed.

Still bloody rude though.

Merchant Banker? Barrister in a top law firm?

Can't really just walk into those jobs 🙄

Would love to hear more on this thread!

Did any of the earlier posters have any further info on technical marketing?

I have a friend who is in pharmaceutical Marketing is the director, he has a masters in Marketing obviously, 20 years experience as a farmer sales rep progressing into management senior management and then over to Marketing from there.

So many of these jobs that are thought of as being easy on Mumsnet require an awful lot of years of experience, leading to credibility and credentials. The fact that some pillock suggested a merchant banker and a barrister as being a fast track to millions just highlights how little understanding people have other people’s roles.

Finance/accountancy - 50K upwards. If you have a first, you can probably study/pick things up quickly.

Realdeal1 · 06/01/2024 22:07

@BLT24 @Starseeking I'm in London and our part quals are around 50K with experience.

Could I ask how you get into this kind of work please? I’m an ex-teacher and currently a uni lecturer looking for a change. TIA
