How can I fix Sidney (the plastic spider)?

Poor Sid has had a slight accident & lost two legs. I don't recall breaking him, but he has lived on my bedside cabinet for quite a while so it's entirely possible I've done it while moving stuff about on there 🙈

Usually Sid travels about the house doing random things that make the girls laugh, and dd1 eyeroll - his favourite time of year is Sidvent!

Any ideas how I can repair his legs so he can once again go on his travels? (Tape doesn't work very well!)

I'm in town today so will scour the shelves for super early plastic Halloween spiders on the off chance I can replace him.

Bump!

There are no flat, plastic, halloween spiders to be had in town yet.

Oh bless, poor Sid.

Superglue? I'm also a fan of Gorilla Glue.

Are his legs solid or hollow? If they're solid you could use a tiny drill bit to drill holes in both sides of his broken legs, glue short piece of cocktail stick into one side and then glue the leg onto that. It will make a sturdier repair. If it looks messy put tape over and tell your girls he's been in an accident (but they should 'see the other guy'!!!!)

Poor Sidney. Honestly I would just make him the 6 legged spider. So much easier.

Replace them with pipe cleaners and Sid can expand his repertoire to include interpretive dance

Would that sugru plastic glue stuff be any good?

or could you glue a pin between the body and leg like a reinforced piece with the pin inserted into the body and leg - like rebar in concrete?

Could you use a match to melt the broken ends and press them together with tongs, to solder Sidney? (I've done similar before, so long as you don't do anything stupid like drip or touch melted plastic you're fine)

Use a split pin. Not sure they come in black though so you might have to colour it somehow.
