Summer holidays TV from the 90s ...

I was just thinking how much I loved summer holiday TV as a kid. There were certain shows that I always associated with the 6 week holidays - Saved by the Bell, California Dreams, The Secret Life of Alex Mack! Does anyone else remember long summer mornings watching these, or can think of any others?

This may be more the 80s - but “Why Don’t You?” Loved it!

I loved Bug Juice, which was a documentary about kids in an American summer camp. Also Renford Rejects, a British show about a rubbish football team!

Eerie Indiana was one, I think.

I was a teen in the 90s. Loved Saved by the Bell and California Dreaming (‘surf dudes with attitude…kinda groovy!’)

Also Sister, Sister with Tia & Tamera.

I remember the summers of the 90s school
holidays so clearly !

I remember Maxis world ( cartoon similar to Barbie ?)

Saved by the bell

Hanging out with Mr Cooper… anyone else remember that one?

And the theme tune to California Dreams is so nostalgic. Takes me right back to the mid 90s. Such a sweet song I can almost recite it word for word!

Channel 4 maybe ?

Alex Mack , Sister Sister was on sky in the afternoons on Nickelodeon.

Oh my god I'd forgotten about The Secret World of Alex Mack!
Used to love that!

Cheseandpickle · 09/09/2023 08:22

Clarissa and Sister Sister are two I'd definitely forgotten! And I remember watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch too.

We didn't have Sky back then, so I think Alex Mack must have been shown on Channel 4 as well.

I used to love California Dreams. I watched the extended theme tune on You Tube recently, I had no idea there was a whole extra verse. It's made me so nostalgic! Such a lovely tune.

Sister Sister and Saved by the Bell were my favourites. I looked up the Saved by the Bell college years theme tune the other day too, that was a classic 🤣

Illtakethatnowalan · 09/09/2023 08:42

All I remember is kids game shows which always involved copious amounts of slime! Get your own back was the biggie of course but I’m sure there were others…

MissKittyFantastico84 · 09/09/2023 09:09

Eerie Indiana walked so Black Mirror could run!

That show was so advanced for a kids show - does anyone remember the episode where the main boy wakes up to discover he's in a show called Eerie Indiana? And his parents are actors and his house is just a sound stage? Blew my mind. They don't write like that for kids anymore...

All those sunny USA shows with 22 year olds playing high schoolers made America look like a teenage dream. Then you're a spotty hormomal 14 year old and wonder why you don't look like Kelly Kapowski....
