I stubbed my toes two weeks ago and it still hurts

I stubbed my 4th and 5th toes on a corner of marble and it hurt unbelievably (enough that I shouted the f-word in front of my in-laws 😅). There was no swelling or bruising though.

Since then I walk around and it's absolutely fine. I squeeze the toes and they're fine. But when I'm resting and it's quiet, they ache slightly. When I bend my toes all the way down (using just the toes, not my hands) it hurts. So maybe I strained the ligaments?

Is this normal? It doesn't feel worth a GP visit if I can walk without pain. But I'm worried I've done something that I should get it seen rather than waiting?

On top of that I managed to stub them both again recently (I have terrible spatial awareness)! It was immediately painful but then just back to the way it was.

Any advice please?

RICE it. If you've got a full range of motion and you can walk without pain, it's probably fine. Doctors/hospital won't do much for a broken toe. You could try strapping it to neighbouring toe for some stability?

But for now, rest, ice, compression (if you can compress a toe?) and elevate. Regular ibuprofen and paracetamol.

If still painful in a few weeks, get it checked just to be sure.

I think it sounds like they are just bruised if you can wiggle them.

If you think you might have broken then you could take yourself to a minor injuries place and they'll strap them for you.

Ice pack a couple of times a day and Ibuprofen will help otherwise. Maybe try wearing flip flops when you can to stop your toes pressing up against a shoe when walking while they're still healing?

These things can hurt for a long time, particularly if you've bashed them again. From what you've said there is no point seeing the dr but that's your judgement to make.

I stubbed my toe, still bruised 2 months later, though no pain.

Could easily be broken but they can't do anything about it so it will take time. I remember doing something similar. So bloody painful!!!

I've had this too - damaged toes take a ridiculously long time to feel better. Maybe it's because there are lots of nerve endings.

A few years ago I ran up the garden path, caught my toes as I came through the front door and sailed gracefully through the air across the hall landing in a heap at the bottom of the stairs... I bruised my toes really badly and it took about six weeks for them to heal.
@Mamma136 I share your lack of spatial awareness.. I am very very dyspraxic!!!
