The World Economic Forum.

Putting porn online.

Agree with filters. I've used one and made myself look very much different. Younger, smoother, more Instagram-friendly. I'm actually a middle-aged, tired, wrinkly fat old bag.

I think a lot of the posters here would be happier if Wireless internet access and mobile data wasnt invented

If you had to go over to a plugged in computer to google something you would only use the internet for useful things

People will be able to chat in resteraunts again, and consiracy theorist will eventually turn back into normal people.

Sadly i sell wifi as part of my job

@BarbaraofSeville totally agree with u about dual income mortgages - buy on two f/t salariés and then go “oh shit” when one salary drops dramatically or ceases. Been there 😬

Salad cream?! 😱😭

Another vote for smart phones and social media.

I feel like they kind of go hand in hand. I've never accessed Insta / Twitter / FB from anything other than my phone.

I agree I wasn't really interested in social media until smart phones but I only use MN now , weened myself off the rest .

Oh yes, this. So much this.

People look at me bemused when I bang on about the dual income mortgage thing.

It has literally changed the bedrock of society.

We went through decades of pain, fighting for women to have equal rights, and for women to have the same opportunities as men.

But nobody fought for men to have the same opportunities as women!

ie. to stay at home, nurture the next generation, OR build a successful career.

So now, women have to ‘have it all’.

And there’s very little choice in the matter because basic family housing costs are built on 2 incomes, like it or not.

It’s changed the way our communities work and completely changed the way families live.

The answer to achieving equality back when mortgages were based only on a man’s salary was to change the criteria to state ‘a PERSON’s salary’, no matter whether man or woman.

The endless scroll.

Also shit 'news' sites that are nothing more than a ruse to force you to watch adverts.

Dual income mortgages. It hasn't done us any favours to count both partners salary when assessing the amount lent. If they'd just stuck at basing lending on one salary, whichever is highest, it would have reduced house price inflation, also made it easier for people to buy on their own as they're not disadvantaged so much compared with dual income households and also built in resilience against job loss, illness, childcare costs etc.

Sorry - that was in reply to this.

Brexit. I wish it had never happened. Caused SO much bad feeling, and resentment, and anger, and bitterness, and arguments, (and hateful feelings towards older people... Even though some older people voted remain...)

I wanted the UK to leave the EU, and aren't sorry we left, but in some ways I wish it had never happened. How does that tie in with me being OK that we left? I can't explain.

Social media! Ironic I know …

Absolutely the same.

It controls all of us, and I hate it, even though I'm a part of it.

The microchip. If we didn’t have that, we wouldn’t have automatic weapons. Smart phones, etc. The digital age generally

I very often wonder how much simpler life must have been when you went to bed tired, because of strenuous work and lots of fresh air, looking forward to the fact that you would be seeing your friends next Tuesday, which you’d already arranged in person a day or two ago.

Not sure of the connection of microchips and guns ????
