I've been having stomach issues where I get intense stomach cramps in the centre of my stomach (near my belly button area), followed by diarrhoea. The cramps are so intense that my ears start ringing, I get a cold sweat and a few times I have fainted. It is honestly the worst feeling in the world, I feel like I'm dying during these episodes. It happens around once a week.
I've kept a food diary and can't find any kind of pattern as I tend to eat the same kinds of foods most days, so there's no obvious trigger. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago which was completely normal so the gastroenterologist discharged me and said my high inflammation (calprotectin) was likely due to gastroenteritis.
I want to go back to my GP but I don't know what more they can do if the colonoscopy was normal. I'm wondering if it could be lactose intolerance or potentially coeliac's? I'm terrified of having one of the flare-ups when I'm out of the house and I find myself panicking whenever I get a small stomach ache incase it's the beginning of another flare-up.
I also have a red blotchy rash on my neck and chest most days that lasts for an hour or so and then disappears. It mainly appears when I've first woken up in the morning, so I'm not sure if that could be allergy related too?
Does anyone know if the GP can test for allergies or food intolerances? Or if I need to go private? I know there's some test kits you can order online but I don't know if they're accurate.
