Just eat won't refund

I often order from. Just eats weather its a take away or a small grocery shop. I have kids with special needs and stuff going on etc. So it's a massive hassle to go to the shops. Anyway often stuff is missing from the order and I have been charged for it. When I ask for a refund its hit and miss if they will refund even though I did not get the item. I know the answer is stop using them. But it just makes things difficult due to the abuse reasons.

I'm just wondering how can they be allowed to get away with it. Surely there must be someone they have to answer to.and a way to take matters further.

I know it sounds petty but when it happens over and over its not on.

IIRC they introduced a new algo around refunds for those that persistently claim refunds on the request of the delivery drivers and restaurants/shops.

They now have a massive market share and ultimately it is down the the shop owner and they are now putting the weight onto them for exposure and listings.

Uber/et al are going the same way now the business model is maturing, a lot of the losses that has been highlighted is around refunds, so they are tackling it from both sides, those that take the piss with regards to refunds and dodgy restaurants (not implying you are taking the piss), but it is going through a maturity stage and tightening up policies on both sides, uber/deliveroo are just about to start this as well

My family use just eat almost every day . So there's going to be more refund requests compared to somone who uses it now and then. Also if they are doing that they need to get it right in the first place. The reviews on trustbot are bad so they are definitely going wrong. Just eat and simlar should have thought about things like what if the delivery person steals, what if the shop does not supply the items. What if the customer is not honest. Its not easy. But all them thoughts should have cone into play when it became a thing .

Op have you tried "go puff"? Not sure if in your area but a lifeline for top up shops!

Tesco Whoosh are good too if it's available in your area. Never had a problem with them and DD2 likes it because she opens the door and they say whoosh! 😀

Use this every day? Isn’t it easier to book a weekly Tesco shop?

PinkFootstool · 08/08/2023 09:16

Have a look it see whether you can use the Snappy Shopper app in your area. They seem to be much more reliable, I've never had an issue and have used it for about 3yrs. They cover the Spar and Co-Op near me.

It's not just me in the house that's using it. Sometimes it's things we have run. out of
Or did not turn up in the main shop. Or it might be hard for me to cook that day. Could just be that we felt like a few treats.

It's a very expensive way to shop if you are using them everyday. As other people have suggested, try a Tesco Whoosh delivery for stuff you have run out of. For a takeaway can't you just phone the takeaway directly? Most deliver, although I realise you can't do this if you are ordering McDonals/KFC/Burger King.
