Anyone else had an irritating morning?

Spent half an hour trying to make homemade play dough/cloud dough with unwanted conditioner. Saw the idea on here. Lots of simple, two-ingredient recipes online. Easy peasy. Pah.

Far too sticky. Add more cornflour. Too dry. Add water. Too sticky. Around and around I go, adding tiny amounts. Nope. Never came together as a usable lump. Also, no matter how much blue food colouring I used, it stayed grey. Now I have a big blob of grey splodge on my kitchen counter, food colouring all over the shopping list and cornflour everywhere and I'm too irritated to clean it all up.

And my tea has gone cold. Grump.

Anyone else had a mildly irritating morning?

Yep. Offered to take DD (11) and her BF for a picnic in the park.

All DD has done has whinged that I’m not taking them swimming instead (can’t afford it).

Made picnic, feel absolutely flat out shattered for no apparent reason and just want to curl up on the sofa or bed. But I have to rouse myself to take ungrateful DD and DDBF out now.

Grump.

For the first time in days the sun has appeared so I hung out the newly washed sheets and towels.

The washing line snapped in the middle.

Me! Can I whinge please?

DF called me this morning. Am I on annual leave? Yes I am. Do I have any plans? Well yes I am but nothing that can't be rearranged (housework, prep for DS's birthday etc). Any chance I could sit at his house and wait for a parcel that needs a signature? Yes no problem.

So I pack up DS and DDog and get there. Both have spent the day pushing every button I have. DDog by acting like an ASBO and ignoring everything I say, he's normally incredibly well behaved and does what I tell him first time (2 year old German shepherd who weighs over 50kg so I have to be strict). And DS by his pre-teen pubescent strop because "it's not fair" and "I don't want too" and other such delights.

And it's only day one of my leave.

Yep. Full of cold, fell asleep for a nap and a delivery arrives and wakes me up. Had no sleep last night so very tired

DH is at home as he’s mildly unwell. He’s usually a martyr for going in to work or at WFH but for various reasons he’s taking today off so I have full exposure to the sighing, the shuffling, the sniffling. He also bit my head off last night when I enquired after his well being, which TBF is very unlike him indeed, but I am both peri menopausal and pre menstrual, so I am beyond irritated.

On holiday and been sick since 4am, husband started yesterday. Kids fed up cos we aren't going out as much.

Yes! DS (11) has a friend over and is being really silly, not listening and quite rude. I’m especially annoyed as he had a big treat day out yesterday so was expecting better behaviour from him today!

Oh, I'm sorry for you. Has he unleashed the dressing gown of doom yet?

He doesn’t possess a dressing gown, fortunately for everyone and indeed fortunately for him. The slippers are on though.

All very legitimate reasons for morning grumping. Not on. Especially on a Monday.
