Is this normal for solicitors?

Saying they'll call you back but then not?

Referred 3 weeks ago and was told on the first call they will get back to me "sometime today" I've called once weekly to be told the same thing, but no call ever comes. They seem a bit flaky but I'm not sure if this just par of the course when dealing with solicitors or if I should look elsewhere.

No that’s really poor. Look elsewhere.

It's normal for solicitors yes. Even more so in the school holidays. If there is one profession you can't rush it's the legal profession.

What is it you need them for? My inclination would be to phone around a few places and go with the one who seems proactive. I wouldn't have waited as long as you have. It sounds like they have too much work on and don't want/can't take your business right now.

I’m a solicitor and no it’s not normal. Sounds like they don’t want the work tbh.

Really not normal. If they're not getting back to you and they haven't even got any money off you yet then steer clear! Once you've paid them they'll be even less responsive!

Thank you everyone for your replies. Its a property issue and likely to take a year or more to resolve. On first impressions they're not filling me with much hope that they'll be much help. Will look elsewhere because I dont need the job of chasing yet another entity along with everything else I'm already doing.

Not normal. I would contact another firm.

LardoBurrows · 07/08/2023 09:58

Not normal and I would assume they just don't want to take on this job. Try other firms and ask for quotes upfront.

Yes it is normal (have enquired via online links to 3 solicitors re updating wills), no reply from all (more than 10 days ago)
