Gift voucher as a birthday prezzy??

I have also bought her so far a luxury box of chocolates to enjoy that she wouldn’t buy for herself. She really deserves the world & I am able to splash out a little bit more this year.

She enjoys browsing Waterstones for a book (as do I) but I know she wouldn’t necessarily make the time to go to one, or choose to spend in there. So I was also thinking a £20 voucher there… easier than guessing someone else’s taste in books I guess? I just don’t know if a gift voucher is appropriate or looks like I couldn’t be bothered to think properly.

It’s that, and/or a pair of shoes which she wants but again wouldn’t buy for herself.

I am happy to get all 3 but don’t want her to feel embarrassed as she always says I shouldn’t spend my money.

So, would you be happiest to receive…

Box of chocs + shoes
Box of chocs + Waterstones voucher
Box of chocs + both of the above?

Thanks :)

I’d probably go for the first or second option then, depending on which she’s most likely to enjoy. I don’t think it’s thoughtless to get a voucher. Shoes I’d only do if you were 100% certain she’d like.

If you can afford it I'd get all 3 . Put a note in with the voucher and explain what you said here so she knows there was thought put into that too

Not shoes unless she's tried them on.

She’s tried mine on and we are same size.
