Just trying to gauge how everyone's teens are doing?
I know some are off to uni soon.
Job hunting going slow here - what to do in the meantime? Volunteering perhaps - where though? (Would certainly enhance CV I guess?).

How's it going for your teens? It's pretty tough going here right now!?

DS started working in a full time adult job last week. He was offered it after doing some work experience elsewhere and just met someone who snapped him up. The company he was doing work experience for also were happy to employ him but he chose not to work for them.

He's always had a job during the holidays or/and at weekends since he was 13.

She's doesn't start until September - I guess maybe that's when people leave for uni. She's quite pleased as means she can enjoy the summer and we can still do stuff while I am off work at the end of this month.

Good luck to your DD in her induction.

My son (turned 20 last week) got his current job while at college, and after he left went from part to full time. Not his ambition, but fine until he figures out what he wants to do.
My daughter who is 18 and did her A levels this year is not working as she was diagnosed with MS this Spring and has had several hospital appointments. I did suggest she might volunteer at a charity shop (thinking it would be less pressure and more flexible) but she hasn't. Now she's been given a summer assignment for her course starting in a month so is doing that. Under normal circumstances I would have suggested she start looking in Spring for a summer job - mostly restaurant/pub/supermarkets type.
