Would you take her to a and e?

My 5 year old did ballet yesterday, she came out walking okay, but said she had fallen over and her foot was bruised, got home it's slightly swollen and bruised.
She went for a walk around the house about a hour and half later and came back in, she was in floods of tears saying it really hurt, and she could no longer weight bare on it. She still hasn't been able to weight bare on it since (not sure if due to fear or pain) should I take to a and e for a X-ray?

Yes.

PuppyMonkey · 06/08/2023 11:35

Needs an X-ray so that would be yes.

I was happy to go yesterday, husband thinks it's just a sprain and we should see how it goes! Where as I think we should take her!

Walk in centres can do x rays so there rather than a&e.

Lindy2 · 06/08/2023 11:36

If she can't weight bare then it needs to be looked at.

autienotnaughti · 06/08/2023 11:37

If there's a minor injuries unit I'd go there but otherwise a&e

calmcoco · 06/08/2023 11:37

She needs the ankle checked by a medical expert. I would take to A&E.

MaMaMeeAah · 06/08/2023 11:38

no, sounds like a sprain
put an elasticated bandage on it and go to a walk in centre
what did the ballet teacher say happened?

Singleandproud · 06/08/2023 11:39

What home treatments have you done? Rest, Ice, calpol, ibuprofen?

Is she likely to have hurt herself within a ballet class significantly enough to break it - perhaps fallen off of something? If not I'd home treat it as a sprain and take her to Minor injuries or A&E whichever you have on Monday if no improvement.
