Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I've just had some fruit for breakfast & am drinking my first cuppa of the day. The bagels in the cupboard are calling my name though! It's silent apart from the fridge humming away and clock ticking...my favourite way to start a weekend day 😊

There's a full basket of washing to plough through, and a handful of pots to be washed as well, so I'll put the washer on in a mo.

Today's a day of nothing much, we went out yesterday when the rain cleared off. I'm slowly working on 2 more projects for work - colour monster display props which I'll finish today, and a treasure chest that I'll add some detail to.

Both girls said they weren't fussed about doing much today, when I asked yesterday, so I'll leave them to their own devices unless they need me.

Roast chicken for tea - my dad bought us a pre-prepared salad on Friday, so we'll probably have it with that and some roast spuds 😋

Showers and chill in front of the box later - I might try the row of my crochet project that has me completely stumped again 🤷‍♀️ It should be simple but my brain's just not getting it at all.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! I’m the only one up so far. Had my breakfast, 2 cups of tea and done Wordle (took me ages this morning). Waiting to put the washing out - hope it can have a few hours on the line before the rain starts here again.

Would be nice to get the kids out this morning for some fresh air. I also probably need to fit in a run but I’m currently feeling very lazy.

DS has his friend over for a sleepover tonight so I’ve got them and DD pizzas and popcorn to eat in front of a film. DH and I will have lasagne. I might treat myself to a gin too.

We head off on our holidays on Tuesday - the weather there is looking good - early 30s and walk to wall sunshine. A much needed break - it’s been a hard year. My mum died a few months ago after a very short illness. I’m only beginning to process it, but I’m hoping some sunshine will be a good mood enhancer.

Happy Sunday all!

Morning been up since 6.30am with 7 month old he's had his bottle and breakfast and is now having a nap other dd has just gone to the park with her dad for a bit and I'm just about to have a coffee and dry my hair all house work done just have to put the washing out to dry x

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 06/08/2023 09:48

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I, too, am having roast chicken tonight. I've been up since half six. I struggle with sleeping any later these days, so I've had two cups of coffee and a mug of tea and toast already. I also have a really irritating cough which woke me a couple of times in the night. The dishwasher is on, I've had a shower and I'm watching telly. I will do a spot of gardening later. I'm waiting for a dehumidifier to be delivered. I'm hoping it will help cut down the use of the tumble dryer in the autumn/winter and deal with the condensation on the windows when it gets colder.

Thislittlekitten · 06/08/2023 09:53

Morning @lucysmam. I’m having a cup of tea in bed. A very rare lie in today. Cats have been fed, one child fed and the other still
in bed as she has a friend staying and they had a late night!

We have some friends and family over today for a casual lunch which I’m looking forward to.

Had a busy and long day at work yesterday and much the same for the rest of the week so looking forward to a relaxing Sunday. Looks like we have a day without rain too!

lucysmam · 06/08/2023 09:58

Uh-oh, I was chatting with my dad about pets the other day - he thought it was a good idea to have one for company while I'm having chemo. He's just text asking if I want a kitten 🙈 I'd love one but not sure it's the best idea 🤔

Morning all!
I got up at 6.30 to take dd to work. I've had 2 coffees so far and have managed to get sone washing on the line, it's strange seeing sunshine after all the rain we've had lately.
I really need to clean my car out today, on that note how does everyone else clean their seats? Mine are looking grubby but can't afford a valet until payday.
Other than that and a bit of housework I'm not planning on doing very much

Simonjt · 06/08/2023 10:26

@lucysmam Get the kitten, once you have done this you must then supply us with pictures of the kitten!!

Very little plans here today actually, I’ve got to do some rugby recruitment work today, but luckily its just contacting new signups, so I can do that whenever. As its almost nice today we’ll probably go out somewhere local for a walk and a little bit of something to eat.

Its my last week at work next week before we move, so I do need to pack away my desk etc as they were provided for by work, I think they’re being collected on Tuesday.

My husband is somewhere with the kids right now, no idea where, they had gone out when I got home from walking the dog, so it’s lovely and quiet at home.

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/08/2023 10:55

@lucysmam get the kitten! They make everything so much better. I will miss these 5 when they eventually leave.
It is so windy and miserable here today (North Norfolk). Going to pop to M&S for something easy for tea, drop some stuff off to my Dad and then come home to extend the kittens pen. They were 3 weeks old yesterday and they're getting very curious and eager to explore!

Decafflatteplease · 06/08/2023 11:13

Morning @lucysmam and all. A kitten sounds lovely 😍

We are having a pottering morning, we were out all day yesterday which was lovely but the house is very messy now! DC are playing, teens just getting up now. I'm cleaning the fridge, all very boring tbh but it's just normal life!

The sun has come out but it's predicted showers later, I'm debating getting washing out or not 🤔

We may go to the park for an hour this afternoon just to give the little ones some fresh air.

Chicken curry for dinner. Just a jar one nice and easy and most of the family like it. Will do seperate Quorn chicken curry for veggie DC.

This evening I really want to finish my book. Love finishing a book on a Sunday ready for a new one for the New week.

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand dehumidifiers are amazing! We have 2 (1800s house). One is downstairs in the boot room for drying washing and the other is upstairs and we move it from room to room with the door closed. We suffer with condensation due to aforementioned 1800s house and we are right on the coast aswell but a dehumidifier nakes a big difference. It makes the house feel warmer as no cold damp air hanging around. We also have a window vac to get the water off the windows quickly in the winter

WhatWouldHopperDo · 06/08/2023 11:21

We left home at 10. We are driving from the South Coast Manchester. On to the Scottish Highlands tomorrow.

DH is taking the first leg. We’ll stop for lunch and I’ll drive the next bit.

DH and DCs are going to take advantage of the overnight stay and are going to the cinema tonight.

l’m going to snuggle with DDog in the pet
friendly hotel, eat Sushi and read.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 06/08/2023 11:25

Decafflatte that sounds great. Thank you. My house was built in the 1980s and the double glazing is the original and not brilliant. I've lived here for four years so only getting round to thinking about it. I can't really afford new double glazing at the moment

JenaWren · 06/08/2023 11:42

Morning! Can I join?

I'm laid up with a possible pelvic fracture (seeing the surgeon on Wednesday). I'm on the sofa listening to JCat snoring away and contemplating a spot of crocheting.

Another vote for saying yes to the kitten. Specially if there are pics. Any kitten pics...

ssd · 06/08/2023 11:45

Definitely get the kitten @lucysmam

And post the picsSmile

grayhairdontcare · 06/08/2023 11:52

Morning
I've been for a dawn walk by the canal and got back and made bagels and coffee.
I've meal prepped a couple of days of breakfast and dinners and I'm off into town to pick up a few bits for my holiday and then just a chilled afternoon.

Please get the kitty 🐱

golddustwomen · 06/08/2023 12:42

@lucysmam get the kitten!! And I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we would like pics every Saturday and Sunday on your lovely threads!

Slow chilled day for us I think. Lots of washing to do and the house could do with a spruce up. It's looks like another wash out. Weather says Tuesday will be lovely so am hoping that's true!!

Lamelie · 06/08/2023 12:49

@lucysmam Definitely get the kitten! I’m abed still in a hotel with dd snoring next to me. We’re in New England having traveled over for a wedding. Off to breakfast with the bridal party before driving to the coast.

Crunchymum · 06/08/2023 13:19

Was thinking about you yesterday @lucysmam as I couldn't see a Saturday thread (I've been away for a few weeks too so haven't been about the past few weekends)

Glad to hear all is okay with you and yours.

We had a manic week just gone, on the back of 10 days away so yesterday was the first day we had no plans. We did swimming / library but then came home for PJ's and a lazy one.

Bit more effort for today. DP has taken our three kids to the cinema (to see The Meg 2. Not sure it's the best parenting as the youngest is only 5, but she was the most excited!)

I'm having a few hours r&r as I'm flying solo for a few weeks now. DP is working away, in-laws (who help with childcare) are on holiday. We have lots planned but it's quite daunting as the kids are all different ages, have different interests (and all like to argue, a lot!!). Plan is to tire them out everyday.

Off out for dinner later so at least I don't have to cook. Just off to a local pizza and pasta place 😋

indecisivewoman81 · 06/08/2023 13:21

Slow day here today. DH and I went out last night with friends and didn't get in until gone midnight. Currently sitting on the sofa making corrections to an essay I am writing and contemplating something for lunch. DH has taken the children out to visit their grandparents so I have the house to myself. The windows are open but there is a slight chill in the air.

PuffyShirt · 06/08/2023 13:21

8:20 here. I’ve just swam a km and we are going to the beach in a bit.

Mitsouko67 · 06/08/2023 13:28

Back from holidays and at a bit of a loss what to do with myself.

Natsku · 06/08/2023 17:39

I'm at my uncle's house, my little cousin had her confirmation today so went to the service this morning (wow it dragged on), then back to the house for the party. Ate far too much food. Went for a swim in their little garden pool. The weather is fantastic today, proper summer again.
And there is a lovely dog here that has been getting lots of cuddles!

Now waiting for the sauna to be ready to go to sauna and maybe swim again.

DD is with me but she's been mostly hanging out in our room, to read in peace.
